Wirepy Touch

Wirepy Touch is a lightweight, native graphical user interface for Ubuntu Touch (Lomiri) designed to seamlessly import, manage, and control WireGuard connections (VPN tunnels).

This app communicates directly with the system's native NetworkManager (nmcli), completely eliminating the need for additional containers, complex Polkit configurations, or background services for basic operation. It provides a fast, simple, and direct solution for importing existing .conf files and switching between VPN connections with a single tap.

System Requirements

  • OS: Ubuntu Touch (Lomiri)
  • Minimum Version: Ubuntu 20.04 (Focal Fossa) or newer
  • Dependencies: wireguard-tools, network-manager

Features

  • Effortless Import: Simply select a WireGuard .conf file from your Documents or Downloads folder. The app automatically parses the configuration, cleans up incompatibilities, and adds it directly to NetworkManager.
  • Robust IPv6 Handling: Automatically resolves IPv6 DNS leak bugs in NetworkManager by injecting an IPv6 dummy address (fd00::1) if necessary when editing or importing profiles.
  • Fast Switching: A clean list displays all your imported tunnels. One tap is all it takes to activate a tunnel. Any previously active tunnels are safely and automatically disconnected beforehand.
  • Reliable Autostart: Easily set a tunnel to automatically connect on system boot. Wirepy Touch uses native systemd user services to ensure your VPN is always up when you need it, and confirms successful connection with a discreet audio chime (Positive.ogg).
  • Dynamic Launcher Badge: The app's icon displays a "1" badge in the Lomiri launcher whenever a tunnel is active, providing quick visual confirmation of your VPN status.
  • Bulk Export: Export all your unencrypted tunnel configurations instantly into a single .zip archive to your Downloads folder for easy backup or migration.
  • Direct NM Integration: No complicated SSL integrations or background daemons—Wirepy Touch speaks directly to nmcli for robust performance.

Usage

  1. Import: Tap the Import button at the top and select a valid WireGuard .conf file.
  2. Start a Tunnel: Imported tunnels instantly appear in your list. Tap an entry to start it. The active tunnel is highlighted in green (or blue, depending on your theme).
  3. Stop: Tap the Stop button at the top to immediately close the active tunnel.
  4. Export All: Tap the Export button at the top to zip all your tunnel configs into ~/Downloads.
  5. Autostart: Tap the checkbox at the bottom of the screen to set the currently active tunnel to start automatically on your next device reboot.

Technical Details

  • UI Framework: QML (Lomiri Components 1.3)
  • Backend: Python 3 via PyOtherSide
  • Networking: nmcli (NetworkManager) & systemd
